So things are going well. I managed to finish the July Bullet Journal. Now it will be a race to finish August in the few days left in the month. Not sure I can do it. Will try for a space theme. Oh btw, I forgot to post the Gilligian's Island theme. I know some of you were interested so here it is.

I tried other browsers for uploading photos to LJ, but all of them will be discontinuing Flash at the end of the year. WHY? I just sent a question to LJ asking what they will be doing about this and if we will all lose access to our photos? I hate all this change.

I'm getting used to my new tablet. I've made some art on it already. I'm trying to fix up the issues with Dawn of Fear. That will be very difficult to fix. As for the lag I will learn to live with it and work with it. Screw upgrading to subscriptions. Again I'm going into the future fighting, kicking and biting. Don't fix what ain't broke. Anywy, I've made one official drawing already and yesterday I made my first 100% digital drawing. That means the sketch was done on the tablet. Not sure what to think of that yet. But I'm hopeful I will get used to it and will no longer need paper. I have way too many sketches going back decades. I'd be so happy to be done with that and quit cluttering up my living areas. I've even considered tossing my old art that's already been scanned and colored. Anyway here is my drawing of my three budgies. Please comment and let me know what you guys think.

So it's very likely now that I will keep this tablet. I really didn't want to bother with the return and getting a different one. But I remember when I got my old tablet back in 2010 that I felt the same way. I was unsure, thought I didn't like it. Didn't know if I'd ever learn to use it. And then look, I couldn't draw without it and was so upset when it broke. Ha. I'm most happy about how fast my art has become now. I hope I can really crank out some amazing stuff finally. I've always been such a slow artist.

I'm waiting on a cactus to arrive in the mail today. It's another cutting of a Tephrocactus geometricus. I already have one but this will make my pair. Both are just single cute little balls. I hope they will grow for me and that I can eventually breed them.

Here is the pic of my haul from my birthday from everyone.

Most of this is from Chris's parents because they gave me a big Amazon card. But I got the cute macaw card from ACTipton, The Emu book from Jokerforever, a card from cactus caffeine, The cactuses, Ghostbusters and tablet are from Chris and pretty much all the lighting is from his parents. There's one set of lights I didn't show because they are already installed in the kitchen window. They were a pair of single T5 2foot lights in the 6500 k spectrum. I hope to get another pair in the 3000k for full spectrum lighting for the plants on that kitchen shelf. Oh and a new coffee maker that's the new model of the one I have. I will make a video doing a compare and contrast on that soon. I think it will be very interesting and no one has done something like that I don't think.

Oh man I need to update that icon now. Ophidius is holding my old dead tablet. As far as art goes he still represents my artistic side. No one else does really. Fear and George are no artists. George is a musician though.

A few days ago my largest domino cactus bloomed for the first time. I was thrilled. I was told its a night blooming cactus and would open at night. So I put it in the bedroom when I thought the bud looked like it was ready. It opened the next morning. Here is a video about it.

Notice the two little buds at the time. Well those buds have grown and last night I put my cactus in my room again to wait for the blooms.

Because of this I have decided to name this cactus Rabbit Ears. I know it will never look like this again in the future. It might have more or less flowers at once but Chris and I were so amused and liked the name so much we've decided to name it Rabbit Ears regardless because of this one funny event. So this morning the flowers are JUST opening and I will try to make a video soon as it progresses.

I have gone out twice the last two nights to try and film comet Neowise. But have had no luck as this is our rainy season and there are way too many clouds. It sucks. Chris went with me last night to a lovely field near a friend's house. We saw a lovely sun set but the clouds were right where the comet should be in the low NW of the horizon. It should be visible through this month and today it is supposed to be the closest to Earth I think but it's crap weather for star gazing this time of year in FL. The guy in coco beach who uploads amazing videos has better weather. Here is a link on his tutorial on how to find it.

So the tablet I was so excited about has that lag issue you saw in the last post. I've been in contact with support. They've been great but unfortunately the bottom line is it's my photoshop's problem. I have the old CS3. They told me to get Firealpaca which is a free new art program and no lag on that. They told me CS3 isn't supported only the 2017 and up adobe programs. I don't understand why a tablet can't work with everything that's on the screen. All art programs should work because it should just be like a fancy mouse. I refuse to get the new photoshop because they've switched to a subscription basis now which means you don't know it, no physical copy and it's never paid off. I love my disk based program but I bet none of the disk based programs would work. The last one was CS6. So not sure if it's worth trying to track that down. My Tablet is the Artist XP-Pen 15.6 Pro. The other option is the wacom tablet without the screen. Basically the upgrade to my old tablet I had. They say they support the old photoshops. Good. I never thought of that because it shoudln't be an issue. But I'd be giving up the screen. I found out my Artist pro works while still shut off as though it were an old screenless tablet. Not sure if that's good or bad as off should be OFF but good that if I don't want the monitor on it still works as a tablet. I have until the 8th to figure out if I'm keeping or returning. I'll keep working on art and see if I can get used to it or not. I don't like the idea of working in two programs. Alpaca to ink and photoshop to color. Maybe I can get used to alpaca but I don't think it has all the amazing things photoshop does since it's a free program. It's too bad the cintiq tablets cost twice as much. We can't afford that. So at this point I don't know what to do.

Oh and speaking of problems. I'm having a hard time with uploading photos to LJ. Opening the photos page on firefox freezes the whole browser. I have to close it with task manager. I can open it in explorer/edge but it's a fight because it thinks I've blocked flash and I have not. It says it will not support flash after December. SO how the Hell am I supposed to upload photos? I'm sick and tired of these computer companies phasing out old stuff that works just fine. So I think I'll be in trouble come December.

Happy Fall

Ah it's November now. I had a very good October. Halloween was nice. I stayed home and worked on the house mostly. Mike invited us over for a bon fire and candy. I figured we would even thought it was a last minute thing. He's done so much for us. Chris got off early and we went over. I had bought pumpkins that day and left some with Mike as well as some cupcakes and cookies. The fire was cool and the biggest one I've been to yet.

I've started my November Bullet journal and it is a challenge writing in limited space. I've been writing my to do check lists on another piece of paper. I may keep it and tip it in at the end of the month.

I've had it with the broken sinks. Luckily Chris found a plumber finally that can help us and he should be coming over today to get the guest bath done. Mast bath is not ready yet. But we've been washing in the kitchen sink which has been inconvenient. So hopefully he'll come out today and also fix a leak we have on a hose bib.

There's an Etsy shop that makes knit budgie caps. But they come as a white face male and a yellow face female. Of course if I buy one I want it to look like Bullet as I feel now Bullet represents me when I'm not Fear. So I took their sample photo and edited it.

Mine is on the right. I made the eyes pink instead of grey. Made the cheek patches lavendar and the nose/cere brown. And I added eyelashes. At first I wasn't sure about the eyelashes but without them she does look like a male despite the brown nose. Bullet was a girly girl so I think this will work and there will be no mistake this is a female budgie even among non bird people. The only bad thing is she's white. Always the problem with figures of Bullet. She'll get dirty easier than the yellow face would. What do you guys think of my version?
Rarely does it get cold enough in Florida for a cap like this. But there are a few days it could be used and definitely I could travel with this to cold areas.

ACTipton80 is visiting me towards the end of this week. We're both very excited. I can't wait. YAY!!
I've been using Chris's mic for voice overs. He's sweet to let me use it. But I need my own. Can't wait to get the white one but I'm going to try to hold off to see if there's an after Thanksgiving sale on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Here's this year's table.

Well I have had my art tablet for 9 years now. Got it Dec 18, 2010. Here is the old post.

Too bad the old photos aren't working since those are on photobucket. Well my tablet is starting to die. It won't always turn on and I have to restart the computer for it to register. The cable is bent and I'm surprised that hasn't broken, but I love the length of it. Since I got this I have always wanted a cintiq. Now a days regular android and apple tablets can be used for art and are accessible to anyone. But back then a screen you could write on with a stylus was just for pro artists in studios. Cintiq is still available but no longer the best though still the most expensive. So I am hoping for Christmas to upgrade to an art tablet with a screen at last now that they are affordable. My old one is an Intuos 4. Funny enough the one I want costs what this one did back in 2010. I also found out my computer that died I got in 2009 so I was right. My computer lasted 10 years. I still hate windows 10 and which my old puter hadn't died. My tablet was expensive. Chris and I had to split the cost but it has more than paid off for itself literally with the commissions I have done over the past 10 years. I just hope it can make it til December of this year as I want to save up for Christmas.

And I have the jeep bug again. My focus is shifting back to art and jeep customization. Amazing how seasonal I am. There are so many cool mods I want for the jeep. I have held off on many because I didn't want to dump money into a car that's not paid off. The Toyota is almost paid off and I want to help with that first and then focus on paying the jeep and getting some mods done on it. I still wish I had two jeep. A 4 door to make Fear art on and a the 2 door to be unrestricted and turn it into a JP Jeep.

Well I better go. I have a busy day today but not much energy.
