Hey guys. So sorry I have not been commenting. I am still here. My "stupid" dog takes up more time than I would have liked. She's actually doing a bit better. I found the channel Beckman's Dog Training and it's been helping. But I learned that you can't really start training a puppy til it's around 9 months old. Their brains aren't developed enough to understand and retain things. The hardest thing has been loose leash walking, stay not biting the leash and treating it like a tug toy. I so hate it when she grabs the leash when we're walking and starts yanking back on in. I force her into a sit to get her mind on something else. Can't wait til she's old enough for formal training. I've been ready for that from day one.

Some of you may know that I've also been taking care of a baby cardinal that's a total disaster in and of himself. I call it a "he" until I know for sure what it is once it molts. I named him Binky as it's a name that works for either sex. It was the name of the bird in the old anime Heidi cartoon from the 80s. And in a way another Megamind reference since that was his little power source thing his dad gave him. "Here is your Binky and here is your Minion." Funny I have a Binky and a Minion now. So Binky left the nest way too soon. He was headed for the yard full of cats and dogs. My yard has Olive which I don't trust around birds yet. There were no safe branches to put the baby on and I knew he'd be a gonner come morning. So I took him in. It's like the world wanted to kill this poor bird. So I'm taking care of him and then he gets his right leg caught in the bars and breaks it. I didn't notice right away til it was dangling. I thought I was going to have to put him down. He was really bad off for a time. I also feared come close to weaning time as that's when soft bills die on me. I don't know why. They may have done great but come weaning time they just keel over. Well I decided to make my own special formula since I had run out of baby food. I didn't know if this would work but I knew this bird needed high protein and calcium. So I took puppy food, mealworms, soldier fly larva and heaping does of calcium powder and mixed it into moist crumbles. I began to feed him this warmed up to 107 F. To my surprised he really turned around and began to recover. But then he bent his left wrist because he was compensating for the broken leg. So basically he was wrapped like a mummy. I know no vet would see him and to turn him over to a shelter would be a death sentence. I almost thought I had to put him down myself but then I saw he had so much life and fight in his eyes. I could not do that to him. I had to keep trying. So after having him all tied up for a week I unwrapped him and he's doing way better. I'm disappointed he'll never be releasable. I was hoping he'd be an outdoor pet like I saw someone else have in a video. I don't know why this bird came into my life but I will keep trying. I've got him eating pellets now and the next challenge is weaning. He takes food on his own sometimes but has a long way to go before he just feeds from a dish.

So between the crippled song bird and the demanding mutt I barely have time for anything else. And for those of you that may not know I was very sad to find out that Whitey has developed cancer. She has a tumor that's been growing in the exact same place between her legs as Bullet did. I'm pretty sure I'm going to eventually lose her. She's going down hill faster than Bullet. Bullet was a fighter but Whitey isn't as tough. As I said in the video I'm very disappointed that Minion never figured out how to mate and that they didn't have babies. I wanted to pass on the lacewing, get Minion's genes into the line and develope super talking babies. Minion can say 230 words and I'm thinking Whitey would be the guiness holder for female budgie with 40 words.

Late happy Father's day. We had a nice one. We took Olive to meet Chris's parents. They've been wanting to meet her. That went well. Olive was very good for the most part. A bit rough the way she loves. I need to keep working on manners so she can interact nicely with older people. At home Olive is constantly getting in trouble and put in time out for grabbing things she's not supposed to, the carpet, shoes, sheets just about anything. And she has tons of her own toys. I love to spoil her but I have a bunch of nice things I have never given her because she has not earned the right to them yet.

I'm sorry I haven't been around guys. I think about all of you all the time. Most of you have my text so we can always send photos there to each other.

Well so far looks like this place hasn't blown up just yet. Speaking of holding on until the bitter end...My cell phone is dying. You guys know I have no love for cell phones but I've had my Galaxy S7 for five years now. Chris got his J7 at the same time I got mine in Dec 2016. His started having problems with power and staying on as well as memory and not being able to receive photos in text. He held out as long as he could but as is our way to be "In your face world!" He got another J7 ha ha. And I knew the day would come when my S7 would kick the bucket. My problem has been my battery is getting worse an worse. And you can't just open my phone and add a new one. Of course they wouldn't do something easy or convenient like that. It has been holding less and less charge and become harder to charge up. Today looks like it's my last day with it perhaps. It dropped to 4%. I charged it for an hour and it wa 19% and I watched it go 18, 17, 16 all the way to 4%. I'm afraid to turn it off and unplug it. It's literally on a life line. I was afraid to get the memory card out as it might not turn back on. I was able to remove my photos at least through the cable which has never worked well for me. I'm now in the unpleasant process of trying to back up photos from text conversations. Some like with Chris, Joker and ACtipton I have tons of photos. And it's not easy. I have to download them to the internal storage then transfer them to my pc. I wish I could save texts. I'd have backed up those ages ago. You guys know I archive everything. But phones aren't real computers. They suck and don't make things easy as they should be. I'm afraid my phone will die before I back up all the pics. So that's what my day entails today. And yes I'm already looking through ebay for a good new unlocked S7 in white or silver. Wish me luck. I never liked that mine was black.

On a happier note. Here is a photo of my puppy when I met her at 4 weeks old.

She's five weeks today. I hope the breeder will send me updated pics, but she'll have to send them to Chris's phone.

I regret not posting more recently. I have been very busy with real life. I'll talk some about that soon. But anyway, I only found out today that today could be the very last day of Live Journal. I so hate that it was sold to the Russians years ago and tomorrow March 11, 2022 it's possible Russia may be closing internet to the world. I won't be losing anything. You guys know I back everything up. I've been saying it for years too. Get a Dreamwidth. This could be it, guys. This could be the end. Please PLEASE make a dreamwidth and join me there if you do not have one already. I always said the only thing that could make me ever leave here or any of the few other online sites I frequent would be the destruction of said sites. Anyway, found the warning too late HERE

And here's the copy paste post from that group.

Do you have a plan?
If LiveJournal can not be accessed after March 11 because Russia is going to cut itself off from the global Internet (LJ is owned by a Russiaa company, if you did not know) do you have plans to post somewhere else?

A lot of people are moving do Dreamwidth, which is similar to LJ because it was developed by former LJ employees.
If you do go to DW, here are a couple of LJ posts by users to Help;

Backing Up Your LJ Data
How to Sync Your LiveJournal to DW

If LJ does fold up, it was a good run. I've enjoyed being a member of this community. I wish I had discovered it sooner.

ETA: Open call to anyone still listening - archiving old LJ comms;

If you modded LiveJournal communities back in the day, please consider archiving them to Dreamwidth NOW. So much 2000s internet history lives there, and if LJ falls off the internet (as it very well might, depending on how things go in Russia in the near future), links will break and vast amounts of it will be lost. Wayback Machine only captures public posts; a Dreamwidth import can pull in locked posts and comments, and allow people to view them by joining the comm.

Oh man, I do not have my groups backed up though and I think it's too late for that now. The only one I'd regret losing is Cucurbitacea as there were lots of posts there with good photos. Not only that but I had actually won an LJ award back when LJ was still American. I find it appropriate to use the Ahab icon. I told you guys I'm going down with the ship. I knew it was sinking but I refuse to get off. Well if everything is gone tomorrow I laugh at the enemies that never were able to defeat me. I cry (in my mind at least as it's super hard to make me cry about anything) about the lost good times and friends I made here. I'll miss the unique posting abilities. Even DW did not compare to the layouts, permanent accounts, icons, customization and such that LJ has/had.

So as far as what's been going on. I went to Miami last weekend to pick out my puppy. Did a solo trip over night. Met the breeder and had a nice time. Puppy was 4 weeks old so I didn't get to bring her home. Will come back with her next month at the start of April. I can't wait. I've been busy getting the house ready. I have not had time for anything on the internet. LJ, DA and YT have all been neglected. I just haven't been on other than watching how to videos on dog care. It's late and I'm tried and I'm shocked and saddened about the sudden news about LJ. I've been here since Oct 18, 2004. So anyway my DW is https://thagirion.dreamwidth.org/
I hope it doesn't come to that.

Ok so I think the subject is a good one as lots of things are getting closer. Before I go on, is anyone else getting the stupid banner up top to confirm email? I hate clicking stuff and don't trust most pop ups but it won't go away. Want to make sure it's legit. Click stuff is how you get viruses. Reminds me of when DA was doing this a few years back. I did ignore if for quite a long time. Very annoying. Maybe they're doing it because so many people lost their accounts when they made that change where you were forced to change passwords in a certain time. A lot of people did not have access to their old emails from decades ago and lost their LJs. They are still sitting there but they can't get into them. It's sad how LJ used to be the best (it still is but is dropping fast) and now they are going down hill to sucksville.

Anyway, I was worried because my Amazon order I placed this past week took several days to go through. Luckily it finally did and all my dog stuff came in yesterday. I got the play pen, some chew toys and blankets. Oh and an awesome new dremel tool. Ah, this brings back memories of when I was a macaw owner and had my awesome blue and gold named Joel. I miss him so much. He was amazing. I used to have a mobile bird grooming business in the 90s. I would advertise in the local paper then go to people's homes and clip wings, nails and beaks. For the big parrots the dremel was essential. You have to be careful with bird claws as they have a blood vessel. Some birds have black nails and you can't see the blood through it like those that have white. They are harder to clip cause of that. From what I've seen it's the same with dogs and their nails. I'm off topic now. So almost everything came in. Luckily I got the most expensive difficult stuff first which makes the last stuff on the list seem easy. Since I'm naming my dog Olive, I want a tag that has olives on it. I got a collar but they were green olives. She's going to be a black olive. I found a nice tag that will match the collar but you know me, I want everything customized. I'm wondering if I can recolor the olives to be black and if the seller would print the new art I will provide? I hope so. If not the green will be fine. Since the collar was a premade ribbon I can't recolor those to be black. Eh, but the green would show better against a black dog. Not sure. I need to think about that.

Speaking of puppies. I was looking around and found a breeder in Dallas. My goodness that would be a haul. I don't think I can do though, that is save up in time. I have enough for a deposit, but I can't meet the balance in time. Even in the 8 weeks it takes for a puppy to wean and be sellable. I want cropped ears so that makes things more expensive. Add a few hundred dollars on top of the price. If I can't go get the puppy myself add several hundred more dollars for a plane trip to Tampa. The bad thing about that is I don't get to meet the puppies and pick one. I may still contact them to ask questions but looks like this particular one wont' happen. A shame because I love how they care for the puppies, how well raised they are and just everything else is great. Oh that they aren't show dogs. I'm so sick of all the breeders being show dog people, making their dogs stupid expensive, having dumb points in the contract that I refuse to agree to and possibly getting rejected as a buyer. Now I have done my share of rejecting customers when I sell birds but those were people that I knew would not care for my babies as pets. Years ago I had a jerk keep pestering me in person to sell him a bird because his son let the last one go (not one of mine thank goodness) and they needed a new one. Are you kidding me? No. What's to stop his irresponsible kid from just doing it again? I really need to tell that story sometime. The guy was a scum bag but he never was able to pull a fast one on me. You guys know how I am in online flamewars. Well guess what, unlike the majority of keyboard warriors in the internet what you see is what you get. I'm the same in real life as I am online so he got the What For from me. Ha, I'm off topic again. The channel Doberman Planet made a funny video about jerk breeders actually where John plays all the parts and argues with himself. If any one wants to see it here's the link.

I have finished the frog tank. Perhaps it's good the first one failed because this one is WAY better.

I'm a big fan of the 3d brick "wallpaper". I used light blue panels on the previous tank. This one I got these coral or peach colored ones. They were listed as pink but that's not pink. It's light orange. You can't see it here but the rocks are fish tank rocks in different shades of blue. I made an egg crate false bottom so it's not as heavy as the last one, will hold water better and uses fewer rocks. Since becoming a frog owner I have also now become a fan of small bromeliads. These are all Neoregelia genus hybrids. The one on the left is called Chiquita Linda, the one in the middle is Fireball and the one of the left is More Pepper Please. All these remain small which is perfect for terrariums. As far as size I love Chiquita Linda. One of the smallest. I think that's as big as they get. The other two might get bigger. I think the fireball might be close to full size but will begin to make pups. The more pepper is my fave for color in this tank. The plants on the side are fitonia white vein and pink vien. There's a peperomia cubanensis hiding in the left corner. You cant see it. The middle is a cutting of neon philodendron. That one I picked because the green will contrast the orange but it gets orange stems. And several types of moss that I hope in time will grow in and make a carpet. At that point leaf litter won't be necessary. I will let this sit for a week, maybe two so the frogs don't uproot everything and eat all the springtails and isopods which is what happened last time. Oh springtails are tropical pinks and isopods are porcellio scaber orange. I'm hoping with the leaves, the bark, wood and plants they'll have places to hide. I love that round thing on the right but it keeps growing hairy white mold. I don't want to get rid of it but not sure what to do.

I didn't take step by step photos. I did take videos but forgot to do still photos. This is the only one and it shows how I made the false bottom. I hope to make a video showing the progress at some point. I'm so behind on my videos. Ok that's it for now.

I have been very busy with my pets and stuff. The usual but things are very good right now. I'm reworking my first frog tank because my clean up crew died a long time ago and the soil went bad. Plus I made a few dumb beginner mistakes and plants started dying. The frogs are in a temporary home. My dart frog tank is much better as I was more experienced by then. I'm still a beginner though. BUT this one I think will be better than the first time. I'm currently adding little shelves for the froggies to jump on.

I have finished my Valentine's Wreath. This is the best wreath I have made. I'm still a beginner at this too and made some mistakes. But the curl method as I like to call it the tube method is the most difficult. Typical I'd go for the hardest stuff first. Here is a video on it.

https://youtu.be/sig_FJ7777o

So we just had our 26th anniversary Feb 4th. Amazing but it does now feel like it. I'm ready to start work on the next wreath. I want to make a 4th of July next. It will be much easier than this one. Can you guys believe this huge wreath was on that small 14 inch frame?

My puppy saving and gathering is going well, but I'm at the temptation stage of things. There are so many cool plants I really want to get still. I keep thinking "Just one, or two. Cheap ones." You know, excuses like that. I'm very tempted right now. I felt this way as a kid too when I was saving up for Joel my macaw. I must resist. I said I had to put my foot down. No matter how much I want a plant or something else unless it's a necessity like pet food. Because just that "one cheap plant" with shipping and tax becomes an expensive plant that's over budget. And I'll never mean my goal this way. The goal can be met in a few months if I say 100-90% each time. All of it is preferable of course. I shouldn't even do 90. It's not easy. Also I am spending but it's part of the goal. That can lead to temptation and self tricking too. "The pen is on my list but since I'm getting that I should take advantage of this deal for this other thing." ARG no! Well, do I want this dog or not? I have to remember that because when I add something else not on the list it becomes "or not." But yes it's hard right now. I'm struggling with this. Oh the other distraction is the thought that says, "Ok you'll meet your goal. You'll get all the supplies and the money, but there won't be any puppies in the state left." So I end up looking at for sale ads when there's no way I can do it now. And there is the possibility I may have to go out of state to a near by state when the time comes. I don't want to go further than two states away though; Georgia, Alabama and the Carolinas. I don't want to go beyond that. But hopefully it won't even come to that. That's still far in the future.

I'm also making good progress on sorting things in the house. I still found some of my mom's old stuff. It's so annoying. It's like her things will never disappear. But we went to Orlando and managed to sell a lot of plates that were finally worth something. But I think that other than all the tons of photos, everything that's left now is our stuff. At last we're in the home stretch as far as getting rid of stuff we don't need and shouldn't even have anymore. Things are still cluttered but I think it's because I'm sorting. I can't wait to get to the point were we have more space so when I'm sorting it won't look so cluttered. I want my house to be a normal house before we buy the puppy.

So yes lots going on but it's been rather good.
