The State of Florida is fun

Usually I'm good at keeping track of the weather but I haven't paid attention to it for a week now. So yesterday afternoon a huge storm came in that's very unusual for our area. It's not like Tampa and Lutz that get the dangerous lightning storms that cause you to lose power and fries all your electronics. So the wind kicked up, the rain was heavy and the lights were flickering. Three circuit breakers went out so I lost power in the living room and kitchen for a bit. But I kept right on working. Chris later told me about tropical storm Gordon. What? I had no idea. So that's what that was. Haha. By the time I checked the radar it was already out in the gulf heading north west. Oh well not my problem anymore. Most Floridians don't freak out about storms anyway until they reach category 2 hurricane. I even mentioned to Chris it was only 60mph. Not so bad. Makes me think of the scene in ID4 where Will Smith wakes up and asks if there's an earthquake. His wife goes, "Not even a 4 pointer. Go back to sleep." And he does. That's what it's like here with storms.

Our land line is back. Chris found out what was wrong. We have a wall mirror. It had fallen over and pulled the cord out of the wall. I knew the mirror had fallen but didn't think anything of it. I'm glad it wasn't something that the service provider had to fix. It was nice having peace and quiet but I'm glad I don't have to use my crappy cell phone anymore in the house. It works great everywhere else but my house.

And more good News. Bullet seems better. Yesterday I was very worried but last night Chris pointed out she looked almost normal. The other night she did throw up one seed that I saw. But last night she stuffed herself. I think her strategy is to eat everything. Her crop sticks out and is round and hard. She hopes SOMETHING has to pass through. So I was happy to see her tight feathered and slightly active. Today she looks good. So I have to make sure to keep her food filled so she can just constantly eat and stay full. So I won't be posting the depressing video I had filmed yesterday but I will post an update video on her soon.

So time for some photos.

Hoya archiboldiana finally bloomed for me. I call this plant Octopus suction cups. It's waxy and hard feeling. Biggest hoya. I've had it for years so I'm glad it's finally bloomed.

Starfish plant bud. This thing is huge. About the size of a tennis ball. I can't wait for it to open.

Chris pointed out that in this view it looks like Gallemotch. Yeah it does. I like that a lot. His head is a closed evil fleshy flower.

My first Tip In. I got to use my digital art. I printed this gourd on vellum and glued it in.

I like how it's see through but still fairly heavy paper. Funny enough it looks better on a white background than held up to the light. So that means these work best front lit and not back lit like sun catchers.

I've potted up my Condor dragon fruit cuttings and put them out in the shade. Next step is for them to get used to full sun and then once they get new growth they can go on the Sully post.

It's still so frustrating that we have so much of my mother's junk. But at the same time as I look around all that's left to clear out is now in the living room and the garage. To think back that we had about a semi truck trailer and a half of stuff and junk, we've actually come a long way. We're not empty yet but we are probably 85% done. Just that that 100% was a HUGE one. So we got to keep at it. I hope I can meet the goal of an empty garage and my Jeep inside by Dec 31. Can we make it? I hope so. I found more paper work. Nooooo!!! I thought I'd gotten rid of it all. If the rains can stop then I have tons of stuff to burn. I've started going through the tons of photo boxes now too and will be burning most everything as well. We're into the second year since my mother's death now. I hope I can be free of this very soon. This year hopefully. And our stuff too. We're getting rid of stuff we just don't need anymore. Some things will be hard to let go but we have to.

So today I plan to work on art. I will try to get some decent progress on George and Fear's drawing tentatively called "I Got You Buddy." I need to come up with a better name than that.

Oh and today is another anniversary. 22 years 7 months. Ha I'll never forget the coworker years ago that I told we observe every month. He told me that once we got old we won't be counting the months. I told him Never. We always will. People need to not tell me what they think I will do. I am unlike most people and one of the few that when I say I'll do something I'll do it.

The balls have opened into pretty maroon and white stars. That other bud does look like a Gallemotch head.

I'm glad you figured out what was wrong with your phone. I'm also glad that Bullet is doing better.

Yes they are so neat. They are still there. I'm so happy they don't last for only 24 hours like the other hoyas. Yeah I love how it looks like Gallemotch. Very similar.

Yeah that was annoying but now it's annoying it rings everyday again. Yeah Bullet is doing fairly well today. I'm so glad.

Ha I know you told me about your experience with the storm and I’m glad it’s whipping towards the midwest. Usually the worst storms that hit us up here come at this time of year in particular. I dread losing my power for two whole weeks just like Sandy, ugh.

I love your plants and I still love the Hoya the most. It has cute flowers. And your Bible pages turned out great! I love your whale and how you drew the water and storm. The gourds looks cute, too.

Aww I’m also glad Bullet is doing better. I’ll keep praying for her.

Yeah, I love that he's named Gordon. Gord for short like my character. I've neglected him. I need to draw him again. Hopefully you won't get too bad of storms this year. I remember when Hurricane Sandy went up there.

Aw thanks. Too bad the Hoya wasn't in bloom when you came but you got to see the buds when they were round. Thanks. I'm very happy with how this page turned out. I don't know what I'll do next. I'm reading Job now, but I guess after that I should start from the beginning and just go straight through it.

Me too. I'm so happy to see her eat, keep it in and look all tight feathered. Thanks. She still needs prayer.

I'm glad to hear that Bullet was doing better here, it's good she had a good appetite.

It's also great that your plants are doing good too, they look very pretty. They printed gourd looks pretty neat on your 2nd bible page.
